If you haven’t noticed it’s been raining. A lot. A single rainy day is fun, cozy and a nice change in the week. Lots of rainy days are blah because we’re stuck inside for way too long. Luckily for us, we got to go and hang out with Kathryn and Brent last weekend to celebrate their wedding. Weddings are the opposite of blah and a stormy day didn’t even come close to putting a damper on this day. In fact it was actually kinda cool.
Most of our day was spent at The Laurels which is one of the newer if not newest venues in Beaumont. This place is really nice and has a lot of variety for photography that we really love. It’s also a great space inside and out so with a pretty well soaked day we had no lack of great areas to shoot in. We’ll be working with several other clients here throughout the summer so hopefully you future brides out there can get a good feel for the place!
Kathryn and Brent shuttled over in a big ol’ bus (which was a great idea) to St. Jude. This beautiful church was a great setting for their wedding mass. It was here during the ceremony that the true thunderstorms rolled in. Call me crazy, but I love thunderstorms. Yes, they are a little scary, but there is something totally cool and majestic about the cold wind blowing in ahead of the lightning and thunder. Overall the ceremony in the large hall at St. Jude with lighting and thunder all around just seemed, well…epic!
After the ceremony it was back to The Laurels for dancing and– THEY HAD MEXICAN FOOD catered by Carlitos! Yesssssss! We don’t get much time to get a quick bite at a wedding, but having enchiladas? Chips and Salsa? Can we make this mandatory for every wedding ever? Soooo good! Just a little secret: I could eat good Mexican food for the rest of forever and be perfectly content.
They also had a band! Now, I’ll say this. One of our all time favorite wedding receptions was with Sean and Anne because they had a great band and Sean surprised everyone by being a killer piano player and jamming out. Well, guess what? Anne is Brent’s cousin and they convinced Sean to sit in with “Midlife Crisis” (the band) and play again! After everyone picked their jaws up off the floor the night continued late and we had quite the fiesta. This family is not shy and we saw some pretty bold dance moves out there.
Alas, all things must come to an end, and before we knew it the newlyweds were off for the night in a pretty killer car. It stopped raining long enough for them to have the top down and wave off in the distance. Congratulations to Kathryn and Brent!
