How is it already June? We are four weeks into a marathon of weddings and it seems like summer snuck in without us noticing. Schools are out, vacations have started, and we have our heads down working through one of our busiest seasons of late. We love every minute of it! One of our goals is to stay far ahead on our post shoot processing, providing our clients with sneak peaks of their sessions and weddings far sooner than we had in the past. As we continue to work to be the absolute best photographers we can be, we understand there is far more to our business than taking great photos. Lately we have been incredibly grateful for our wedding clients. They bring us not only inspiration as we watch these moments in their life, but also encouragement. Clients and their families have given us an outpouring of compliments, and genuine thanks above and beyond what we could ever hope for. We are always humbled by the trust a couple places in us to work with them during literally a life changing time in their lives. How cool is our job?
One such couple of course is Augusta and Michael. We have gotten to know them over the last year or so. Last fall gave us beautiful weather to shoot their engagement photos and earlier this year we had a great time with Augusta one on one (well two on one with both of us –Kyle & Kimberly- active at the shoot) during her bridal session at the Julie Rogers Theatre. For us there is a lot of anticipation leading up to a wedding, but far more so when we have gotten to know clients over several meetings and photo shoots leading up to the wedding day. Usually we arrive on the wedding day like old friends and jump in to the fray without skipping a beat. Just the way we like it.
When last weekend arrived we were happy to see some variety in the weather. When the clear blue day announced boldly that it would stay all Saturday, we were more than ok with it.
Where better to have a big beautiful day than another trip to The Laurels? Yep, we were just there a couple of weeks ago and we’ll be there again for our next wedding. The Laurels as a wedding venue pretty much has it all. We especially love the outdoor porch area and the trees that surround the building.
For the ceremony they hopped in a limo over to St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica just a couple of miles away in downtown Beaumont. We have been fortunate over the years to do photography in this masterful place many times. Weddings at St Anthony’s Cathedral always have a special reverence. The architecture overwhelms your vision when you first walk in and the linear scope is a photographer’s compositional dream. We always try to find new small ways to make our images here have a special unique flair. The light during the ceremony was strong through the stained glass giving us powerful contrast and interesting leading lines. Augusta and Michael exchanged their vows during a full mass. Despite a little bit of nerves they were able to take it all in and were married in front of their loved ones!
Sadly for us photography junkies we had limited time after the ceremony to shoot inside the cathedral, but we had some great moments with the newlyweds inside and out before returning to The Laurels for the reception.
It would not be a Parfait blog post without mentioning how much we loved grabbing a bite of the food. Soooo good! I think they did too. This image sums them up pretty well. 😉
It felt like it took a long time to get here, but what a great day it was. Many many thanks again to this wonderful couple and their families. Congratulations Augusta and Michael!
