Does anyone read blogs anymore? I always stumble upon blogs when Im looking for recipes and always find my self aggressively scrolling down to the actual ingredients rather than reading about grandma’s long held secret to the best biscuits known to man. I know why they do it…it is the same reason I’m typing here: Search Results. Yep, everyone is trying to show up somewhere, to be SEEN because we business owners are at the mercy of clients actually finding us! Thankfully, we have a family of wedding clients who we have served over the years and there is a lot to be said about building expertise in an industry like photography. Being a wedding photographer in Southeast Texas, is much like anywhere else. There are a TON of photographers. Like a LOT. It’s hard to self evaluate and tell people what it is that makes us different than others. Hopefully our work does most of the talking, but there are times when we find ourselves wondering where we sit among so large a community. I think our goals have largely been two fold:
1. We want to be stellar in our work, with all the usual buzzwords ‘Creative, modern’ etc. But our usual mantra has been “Timeless.” We want our work to look relevant years down the road, and not just like an editing fad that swept through. It has always been important that your portrait sessions, and of course the wedding day itself look and feel like it did on the day of. We all remember the cheeseball photos that came out of the 80’s glamour studios, and no one wants to look back at their wedding photography and think “Why on earth did it look that way?”
2. We want to serve our clients. Crazy right? Weddings are just a stressful event to plan, and truthfully, they can be a stressful event even as you are joyfully experiencing the moments themselves. We’ve always tried to keep the perspective that no matter how many weddings we have shot, no matter how many times we’ve seen all of the traditions play out, it is still new and raw for our couples who are going through this whole process. If we can be a rock as an encouraging, always positive force for our clients then we know we have served them well.
More than anything we are thankful for all of the support over the years. You never know how things will play out, and we never take our wedding clients for granted. Have a look at the fun time we had with Mackenzie and Casey!
