Rainy days always bring out the writer in me. Maybe rain feels nostalgic, or the drone of the downpour is calming. This evening brought some cooler weather, the kids are on their way to bed, the kitchen is semi-clean (which for us just means clean) and the house is relatively quiet. Scratch that. One of them just started screaming.
Where was I?
Ah yes, a wedding blog! We’ve recently taken a look back and it is stunning how blessed we have been to work with such amazing people over the years. Sometimes we have very young couples still finding their careers, working through school. We’ve worked with middle aged couples who found each other much later in life. The stories all vary, but they are personal, meaningful stories. Working as a wedding photographer, it is easy to let these celebrations pass by us in a blur. After all we have a job to do, and we follow up that job with other jobs, deadlines, communications, travel, and all the other logistics of running a business. While we always advise our couples to slow down, to be present in their wedding day, we don’t want to take these many weddings we attend for granted either. When we meet with a couple for the first time we understand that for them ALL of this is new. The stresses of planning, the joyful anticipation, each and every detail we once experienced ourselves are new for our couples.
So here we are with Ashley and Salvador. I think they would tell you their story is one of change. Their marriage marks an awesome sense of arrival for their family. We have been honored to work with them leading up to this time starting with their engagements last year. They were married at First United Methodist here in downtown Beaumont, followed by an awesome reception over at the beautiful Neches Room on Crockett St. Good food, a Mariachi Band, and of course lots of close friends made their day something I know they will remember forever. But enough of my writing! Our stories are told through our images…have a look!
